NEWS FROM SANCTUARY INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE
Sanctuary Integrative Medicine, located in Rutland, Vermont, announces the addition of Amanda Burlett and Marsha Hudnall to the staff. Ms. Burlett fills the position of Lifestyle Educator for the First Line Therapy program. Ms. Hudnall will serve as a Nutritional Consultant.
Amanda Burlett draws on her own life experience to offer sensitive and supporting educational programs for clients of all ages. While working in a local school system Amanda began treatment for abnormal cells in her body. After a 10 year period without any major improvement she realized she had to make some changes. “I looked at the foods I was eating as well as my fitness and stress levels and found I could make positive health changes. I became healthier and happier than ever before. These changes helped me to decide that I wanted to help other people do the same!”
As the Lifestyle Educator for Sanctuary, Amanda will be responsible for the motivation and counseling of all patients utilizing First Line Therapy as a therapeutic lifestyle change. The First Line Therapy program is for treating and reducing the risk of common conditions such as: overweight/obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and conditions related to aging. Amanda became certified as a Lifestyle Educator in October 2009 specifically for the First Line Therapy program. She is also continuing her education in Fitness with Ashworth College.
A nationally-known nutritionist, Marsha Hudnall, RD, MS, CD has worked for the past 25 years as a specialist in the field of weight management. Her goal is to help people move away from restrictive notions of food and health to more easily achieve health and weight goals. She is program director and owner of Green Mountain at Fox Run, a pioneering women’s retreat for healthy living without dieting now in its 38th year of operation, located in Ludlow, VT. She also serves on the board of the Binge Eating Disorder Association and is a member of the Dietitians in Functional Medicine and Food & Culinary Professionals practice groups of The American Dietetic Association. Marsha is widely published in professional and lay publications and is the author of seven books addressing topics such as carbohydrates and healthy weight, vitamins and other supplements and eating for a healthy pregnancy.
