To: Sanctuary Integrative Medicine and Green Mountain Family Medicine Employees, Friends, Families:
It is with regret that we announce the closing of Sanctuary Integrative Medicine effective January 31, 2014.
The past four years have been a wonderful journey! Through application of a truly integrative lifestyle approach to prevention and treatment, the health trajectories of many people have been positively affected. We are very proud of that.
The decision to close was not an easy one. The economic realities of private medical practice are continuing to favor a time limited, problem focused, volume dependent model of care, and as many of you know that that is not how we practice. With the pending unpredictable changes in the delivery and reimbursement of healthcare services of the Affordable Healthcare Act, and Vermont's Single Payer intention, the risk of staying in business simply outweighs the reward. We regret that what many of our patients have accomplished in reducing the burden of disease has little apparent value in the current and projected systems of reimbursement.
We want to thank all of our dedicated employees, friends, and patients who have enriched our lives over these four years.
Going forward, it is our pleasure to announce that Dr Greg Burkland will continue to provide naturopathic primary care at Green Mountain Family Medicine at Allen Pond. Dr Mark Logan will also transition his functional medicine patients to that practice. Appointments at Sanctuary will continue until January 31, 2014, as will supplement sales. Yoga will continue with its last group class on January 2, 2014. Integrative Fitness will continue weekly classes until January 15, 2014.
Our deepest appreciation and thanks to EVERYONE who made this practice as wonderful and innovative as it is. We wish everyone a future of good health and an abundance of love in your lives!
Mark Logan MD
